Commercial Roofing Estimator – Indian Trail, NC

A well-established commercial and industrial roofing contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our team in Indian Trail, NC. We provide a complete range of roofing services, including new construction, re-roofs, repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, and 24/7 service. Our company is known for its long-standing reputation of quality workmanship, professionalism, and dedication to customer satisfaction across multiple states in the Southeast region.

Position Overview

The Estimator will play a key role in preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals for commercial roofing projects. This position involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to accurately determine material, labor, and time requirements. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

In addition to estimating duties, the Estimator will provide essential support to project management and sales teams—ensuring that customer needs are met through clear communication, responsiveness, and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage assigned estimating activities and objectives.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed proposals for review.
  • Develop and submit drawings, submittal letters, and supporting documentation.
  • Request and track product data sheets, samples, and technical materials.
  • Maintain an up-to-date bid log to monitor bid progress and outcomes.
  • Follow estimating processes from pre-bid through handoff to project management.
  • Draft and submit proposals to general contractors, private clients, and other partners.
  • Analyze the cost-effectiveness of materials, labor, and services throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to address and resolve estimating issues.
  • Prepare estimates for selecting and managing subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain a current directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and requests before project initiation.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Management, Service, and Administrative departments.
  • Assist in the development of departmental budgets and cost projections.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in construction estimating, preferably within the commercial roofing industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience using estimating software.
  • Ability to perform roof take-offs and field core cuts when needed.
  • Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Professional, customer-focused attitude with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
