Location/Division Specific Information

This position is within the Laboratory Equipment Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, reporting to the Asheville, NC manufacturing site.

Discover Impactful Work:

In the role of an EHS intern, you will deliver tailored aid to the EHS department for the supervision of Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and operations. Your input will play a vital role in maintaining our conformity with safety guidelines and environmental legislation.

A day in the Life:

  • Actively participate in Tier meetings to discuss safety and environmental matters.

  • Review entries into the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management system and update records accordingly.

  • Coordinate contractor activities to ensure compliance with EHS standards.

  • Assist with all aspects of waste processing and management.

  • Participate in investigations to determine the cause of incidents and successfully implement corrective actions.

Start Date: This internship is set to begin on either May 11th or June 15th, 2026 for a duration of 10-12 weeks – dependent upon student availability per academic calendars.

Compensation & Relocation: Our undergraduate Operations internships offer an hourly rate between $21.50 - $28.75 dependent upon the location you are supporting (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines). Additionally, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 if necessary. Student must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of the internship to be eligible for the relocation stipend.

Education / Experience

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety ; Chemistry; Biochemistry, or another related field of study, or equivalent experience graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Capability to use diverse resources, respond quickly, understand the impact of changes and decisions, facilitate agreement, and build collaborative relationships.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows-based software.

  • Knowledge of chemical safety is a plus.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and manage various tasks effectively.
