Technical Writer Location Hybrid work in Kirkland, WA :
Verasonics is hiring a full-time Technical Writer based out of our office in Kirkland!
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and revising high-quality technical documentation such as manuals, reports, brochures, or application notes.
Responsibilities:
- Writes and edits technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals, and user-facing documentation.
- Writes and edits procedural documentation such as user guides, manuals, and application notes.
- Determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements.
- Meets with scientists, engineers, programmers, project managers, sales & marketing to learn about specific products.
- Research product samples to fully understand product.
- Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
- Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines.
- Creates or works with scientists, engineers and graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.
- Gathers feedback from customers, designers, scientists, sales & marketing to improve technical documents.
- Expert in the ongoing use and maintenance of content management systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with Content Management Systems, specifically MadCap Flare is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing or related field required.
- Excellent written communication and editing skills.
- 3+ years of related experience writing and editing technical documents preferable in engineering, scientific or highly technical organization.
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Visio or other technical drawing software required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering and customer success teams on product and documentation requirements.
- Proven ability to communicate technical information correctly and concisely.
- Background in Engineering is a plus.
